It’s a New Year! FUCK YEAH! Look at this hottie (for, um, motivation…not just because I like to gratuitously pepper this blog with hot dudes). Lots of people start a new year off with high hopes of getting back to the gym! Or into the gym for the first time! Being fit! Losing weight! Looking ripped like Mr. Muscles here! This is where people kill it for a few weeks before the frantic pace of their approach quickly burns them out and they stop going by mid-February. True story! There’s no need to go at for hours at a time, seven days a week like a maniac. It’s better to work out at a higher intensity for a shorter amount of time, because science. Your body can only handle so much before fatigue. Hit it hard for about 30-40 minutes. Done.
“Though the tendency of some people who really want to get a lot out of their workouts is to spend a lot of time at the gym, the truth is that after 30 or 40 minutes, the benefit isn’t as great. To go that long, you’d have to lower the intensity of the workout, and that means that you’re spending too much time working out.” [source]
