Maybe you can be a lawyer, doctor and an international supermodel — but you probably won’t excel at all three of them at the same time.
A few years ago I was feeling really depressed and sought the advice of a therapist. Sometimes it’s good to talk shit out. All that crazy in your head just spins around. When you give it someplace to go, it’s a huge relief. Her suggestion?
Lower your expectations.
You can achieve your goals, but it won’t happen overnight. Lower your expectations.
How does this motivate you for change? It stops you from beating yourself up mentally. Let’s say you look in the mirror and the sight sends you into a depression. You’re not seeing the results you want and you’re just thinking, eff all that, I quit this bitch.
Lower your expectations.
You don’t go from 1 to 100 instantly. But you’ve made change already. Maybe you’re not as far as you want to go, but you’re getting there. So shut the fuck up and be happy with that.
Expectations lowered.
Tomorrow, get up and do it all over again. Consistency is key and you’re getting there.
If you don’t expect perfection, you won’t be disappointed.
