I’m not trying to pick on you, ladies. It’s just so easy. No, really! Google image search “models without makeup” and it’s all women. Google “male models without makeup” and the results are still (mostly) women! Our culture must love to tell girls how ugly they are, because I suddenly realized nobody is creating — or looking at — these before/after pics because they want to appreciate natural beauty. They want to see discolored skin, zits and crows feet. Ugly bitch! And then we feel better about ourselves.
I was thinking by showing supermodels before and after makeup that I was sending a message of empowerment. I’m not sure? What I do know is that I want to look and feel my best, and that images in the media are basically ALL LIES. We can only be true to ourselves. There is no such thing as physical perfection, and there’s nothing wrong with trying to make what you’ve got a little BETTER, but it’s never okay to build yourself up by tearing others down. It doesn’t make you prettier or smarter. It just makes you an asshole.
